What is the minimum width for an item cut-out?
Our minimum width is 6.5mm.
What are the tolerances for the cut-outs?
Experience has taught us we can generally keep to within a 2mm tolerance. If our Design Instructions are closely followed and we receive a well-drawn Template, the tolerance can be less than 1mm. However, given the many variables involved with drawing outlines, pen thickness, taking photos of a template etc., this cannot be guaranteed. We do guarantee though, that if you’re not satisfied with your Tech Insert, we will do everything we can to resolve your issue.
Can I draw more than one layout per ArmourCore Custom Tech Insert?
Yes, as long as all the layouts in your Template fit within the Custom Tech Insert maximum dimensions, and meet the requirements in the Design Instructions, we can cut multiple layouts into an Custom Tech Insert. This effectively gives you multiple Inserts for the price of one!
Do I have to leave space between each item? What's the minimum distance I need to leave?
Yes. We recommend that you leave at least 20mm between each item, and 20mm between items and the outer edge of your Custom Tech Insert. This allows room for Finger Holes and ensures items can be easily accessed from the Custom Tech Insert when you are using it.
When creating your Layout, you must leave at least 15mm between each item, and 15mm between each item and the outer-edge of each Perimeter.
What is the narrowest point you can cut to for an item cut-out?
The narrowest point we can cut to is 6.5mm.
Where will the Finger Holes go and how will they work?
In order to provide the most consistent results, we design the finger holes to best suit each layout. Our Finger-Holes are 20mm wide with rounded ends and may span across multiple cut-outs. Each finger-hole is between 15mm and 25mm deep.
Unfortunately, we are not able to provide the option to design your own finger holes, unless you provide your own Vector file.
Do I have to lay out my items before tracing out around them or can I just draw the outlines I want on my Template?
You don’t have to lay out your items if you’d prefer to draw them free-hand. If you believe you will be happier with the result by drawing the outlines without your items on the page, then that’s ok with us. Please just remember, the more accurate your Template, the better your result will be.
Will my Custom Tech Insert exactly match my template?
Due to limitations in the manufacturing process, their may be some slight variation in the design of your Custom Tech Insert. But rest assured, we will do everything we can to ensure the items you outlined on your Template can fit where you want them.
Can I revise my Template?
Unfortunately, in order to keep ArmourCore Custom Tech Inserts affordable, we are not able to accept revised Templates.
Will I be able to approve the design before it is manufactured?
When you submit your order, we take that as your approval of your Template’s design. In order to keep ArmourCore Custom Tech Inserts affordable, we are not able to offer any further approval.
How can I order more than one ArmourCore Custom Tech Insert at a time?
At the moment, due to technical limitations, we can only sell one Custom Tech Insert per order through our website. If you’d like to place an order for five or more Inserts, please go to our Contact Us page and let us know what you’re trying to achieve, and we’ll work with you to make it happen.

If you’d like to do that, please go to our Contact Us page and let us know what you’re trying to achieve, and we’ll work with you to make it happen.
I’m much more advanced at this type of thing, so can I just draw up my Outlines in a CAD program and just attach the Vector file instead?
Yes! If you have the Vector file that will produce exactly what you want, and it fits within the max dimensions of the ArmourCore Custom Tech Insert you’ve selected, then we are happy to produce your block using your Vector file. When ordering, please add a note in the Notes field to let us know that’s what you want. You will also have to attach the file three times during checkout (due to a website limitation).
Suitable file formats include: .pdf, .dxf, .dwg
Please also note, we will still have to do some processing to your Vector file in order to conform it to our production processes, so unfortunately we are not able to offer a discount for using the Vector files. You will however, get an ArmourCore Custom Tech Insert that perfectly matches your Vectors.
